NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE CONVENES BLACK MAYORS FROM THE COUNTRY’S LARGEST CITIES AND LEGACY CIVIL RIGHTS LEADERS FOR A FIRESIDE DISCUSSION ON THE STATE OF EMERGENCY FOR CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS

The Black mayors of the nation’s four largest cities, will address the state of emergency for civil and human rights during a fireside chat with National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial to open the second day of the National Urban League’s Conference.

HOUSTON, TX (July 28, 2023) – The Black mayors of the nation’s four largest cities, will address the state of emergency for civil and human rights during a fireside chat with National Urban League President and CEO Marc H. Morial to open the second day of the National Urban League’s Conference.

 Morial will also lead a chat with leaders of the nation’s top legacy civil rights organizations,  following along with remarks from members of the Biden Administration and civil and human rights leaders.

 Notable speakers from the Biden Administration include Acting Secretary Julie Su from the U.S. Department of Labor, Deputy Secretary Wally Adeyemo from U.S. Department of Treasury, and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Kristen Clarke from the U.S. Department of Justice.

 The first fireside chat will feature Rev. Al Sharpton, President and Founder of the National Action Network and Melanie Campbell, President & CEO, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation; Convener, Black Women’s Roundtable; and the second will feature Black Mayors from the four major cities in the U.S.; Mayor Sylvester Turner of Houston, Mayor Eric Adams of New York City, Mayor Karen Bass of Los Angeles, California, and Mayor Brandon Johnson of Chicago, Illinois.
