The Houston Area Urban League is proud to announce that Steve Kean, President and CEO of the Greater Houston Partnership, will be honored at this year’s Equal Opportunity Day Gala. A dedicated community leader, Kean has significantly bolstered Houston’s economic growth and civic development through his impactful leadership. His work has driven initiatives that attract investments, build a skilled workforce, strengthen the city’s economic foundation, and bring together diverse voices to address key regional challenges. Before leading the Partnership, Kean served as CEO of Kinder Morgan, one of North America’s largest energy infrastructure companies, bringing decades of experience in the energy sector to his role.
“For more than half a century, the Equal Opportunity Day Gala has united our community in support of meaningful change,” said Judson W. Robinson III, President and CEO of HAUL. “This event celebrates the individuals and organizations that uplift Houston through their dedication and generosity, helping us expand opportunities and build a brighter future for all.”
A highly anticipated event on Houston’s social calendar, last year’s Equal Opportunity Day Gala brought together nearly 1,000 of the city’s top corporate leaders, philanthropists, and elected officials. Funds raised from the gala directly support HAUL’s crucial programs in workforce development, education, health and wellness, housing, and social justice, providing essential services to thousands across the Houston area each year.
This year’s Gala is chaired by Morris Smith, Vice President of Public Affairs at Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages, with Myrtle Jones, Senior Vice President of Tax at Halliburton, serving as Honorary Chair. Coca-Cola has also committed as the Event Title Sponsor, a partnership that underscores HAUL’s vision for an inclusive and prosperous Houston.
The theme for this year, “Visions of Tomorrow: Celebrating the Next 55 Years,” reflects HAUL’s commitment to empowering communities and building a legacy of opportunity.
