For 55 years the Houston Area Urban League has been focusing on a vision of enabling Black and other “marginalized communities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power, and civil rights,” according to its vision statement. This week HAUL will host the National Urban League Conference, which means leaders from as many as 90 Urban League Affiliates will converge on Houston to seek common solutions to some of the problems that impact underserved communities.
